Samples of Work

Sample 1: Research Theory Statement: "Impacts of the 'Model Minority' stereotype on second-generation Chinese-American identity formation"

The theory statement is a section of the final research proposal for ERSH 8400 Qualitative Research Traditions. The overall purpose of this qualitative research is to understand how the "model minority" stereotype has impacted individual identity development of second-generation Chinese-Americans. The theory statement describes my own theoretical perspectives in this study.

Sample 2: CCSD Technology Training Evaluation Report ( final draft and PowerPoint presentation slides)

The two items are the assignments of EDIT 8350 Instructional Product Evaluation class. Two workshop sessions that train elementary school teachers to use multiple interactive instructional products were evaluated. The purpose was formative rather than summative so that the evaluation results can inform future training in similar settings.

Sample 3: Strategies for Modifying Instruction for English Language Learner (ELL)

During summer and fall 2005, I assisted Dr. Judith Irvin with book revision. (Irvin, J. L. , Buehl, D. & Klemp, R. (2007).  Reading and the High School Student:  Strategies to Enhance Literacy 2/e.  Boston:  Allyn and Bacon.) Dr. Judith Irvin is a professor in the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies at the Florida State University. I contributed to the process by drafting a section in each chapter for practical strategies that teachers may use to modify instruction for English Language Learners.

Sample 4: Webliography for Design-Based Research(in progress)

This webliography is created in collaboration with Rui Hu, Staphanie Jones, and Qi Li as a project assignment for EDIT 9990 Doctoral Topical Seminar on Design-based Research. The purpose of this website is to provide beginning learners of design-based research with a variety of existing resources as well as a "path finder" tool to help them locate the type of information that they need.
