Career Goals

My overall career aspiration is to become a productive researcher in the field of Instructional Technology. Upon completion of my doctoral study, I may seek to secure a university faculty position that allows me to both teach and pursue my research interests.  Alternatively, I may pursue a postdoctoral research fellowship to better prepare me for a faculty position in a highly rated research institution.

No matter which path I eventually choose, I have committed myself to the improvement of learning through developing practices with learning technologies, and constructing optimal learning environments in a technology-rich era. To achieve this goal, I will primarily focus on two areas. One area is technology integration including evaluation of interactive learning systems for student use and development of teacher's practices with technologies. Another focus is construction of authentic learning environments that foster student motivation and self-regulated learning.

In the long run, I aspire to use my research and scholarly expertise to influence decision-making regarding technology use in Chinese K-12 classrooms. My most ambitious and ultimate goal is to bring about positive changes to educational practices in China, and thus enable more meaningful learning as well as help nurture a generation of life-long learners.

The following are three sample positions that I would like to apply for:
